Charter a London City Private Jet

Of all the airports in the British capital, London LCY Airport is the most centrally located. It is just a short drive from major business areas, centres of commerce, and many popular tourist attractions. London City Airport’s convenient location and excellent services allow for a luxurious start to your journey, with a maximum of efficiency and utmost comfort.

History of London LCY Airport

Plans for a central airport near London’s old shipyards existed as early as 1981. In the following year, a test flight confirmed the feasibility of the plans. The project took shape as part of the conversion of the old Docklands area into office complexes and the creation of the new Canary Wharf business centre. Construction on London City Airport began in 1986, and, at a ceremony to commemorate the start of the project, Prince Charles laid the foundation stone for the airport terminal. The airport was opened by Queen Elizabeth II back in 1987, and during its first year of service, it recorded 130,000 passengers for the destinations of Paris, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Plymouth. In the following years, further connections were added and London LCY Airport became a popular hub for business and private jet travellers.

In 2005, a new apron with additional spaces for aircraft and four new gates were built. Further modernisation increased the capacity to cope with the airport’s ever-increasing passenger volume.

A private jet to London City Airport is the fastest way to the capital of the UK. The airport is located just around eleven kilometres east of the City of London in the harbour basin of London’s East End. In the immediate vicinity are the modern office buildings of Canary Wharf, the second most important business district in London.

London City Airport offers easy access to the city centre. In contrast to London’s other airports, there is no need for a time-consuming transfer to the city centre.

  • Canary Wharf: approx. 6 kilometres by car
  • Liverpool Street: approx. 11 kilometres by car
  • Tower of London: approx. 14 kilometres by car

Charter a London City Private Jet for a Quick Connection

London City Airport is London's closest airport to the city centre, but also the smallest due to its location in the middle of residential and office buildings. If you arrive on a charter flight at London City Airport, you will typically only need 90 seconds to pass passport control and customs and exit the runway to the parking lot. Check-in and security checks are just as quick for guests departing on flights from London City.

All British cities and major European cities are within easy reach of London City Airport. A wide range of domestic and international destinations can be reached on a private jet from London City. However, due to the specificities of the inner-city airfield, only certain aircraft are suitable for flights from this airport. The most popular destinations for business flights from London City are as follows:

Within an hour you can reach the French capital. Specialising in private aviation, Paris Le Bourget Airport offers charter flight travellers an excellent range of services. A flight to Rotterdam, the second largest city in the Netherlands, takes 53 minutes. The city centre is only six kilometres away and the third largest seaport in the world is also nearby. It takes an hour and a half to travel from London City to Zurich or Geneva by charter flight.

London City Airport’s approach lane offers beautiful views over central London in fine weather. Coming in from the north and east, the views of Big Ben, the London Eye and London Bridge are particularly beautiful. Owing to the airport’s location in the midst of residential and office buildings, there are certain restrictions in place to prevent accidents and noise pollution. Consequently, the terminal is closed overnight, and neither departures nor landings are possible. As of August 2017, the following take-off and landing times are in place:

  • Monday to Friday: 6.30am to 10.30pm
  • Saturday: 6.30am to 1pm
  • Sunday / public holidays and bank holidays: 9am to 10.30pm

The densely populated environment and some surrounding high-rise buildings also require a limitation on licensed flying machines. In particular, these restrictions affect larger models that are not compatible with the runway length or have only one engine. In addition, the aircraft must be suitable for the airport’s specified approach angle. Most private jets are permitted to fly to London City, including Beechcraft King Air, Cessna Citation and all Dassault Falcon jets. The largest approved aircraft are Airbus A318 and Bombardier CS100.

Experience London City by Private Jet and Explore the British Capital

London is one of Europe's most important financial centres. Many banks and corporations are based in the newly built skyscrapers between Liverpool Street Station and the River Thames.

Aside from business interests, London offers a fascinating mix of the old and new: medieval buildings stand shoulder to shoulder with architectural glories of the British Empire and office complexes designed by contemporary architects. The numerous Royal Parks are the green lungs of the heaving metropolis and offer space for rest and relaxation amidst the hurry of city life.

Just as impressive are London’s museums. The British Museum offers a comprehensive insight into the history of the British Isles, while the Victoria and Albert Museum has the largest art collection in the world. The most important paintings from the late Middle Ages to the early 20th century are in the National Gallery.
